Croeso — Welcome to the Llynfi Valley Historical Society

Preserving and sharing the story of Maesteg and the Llynfi Valley

The Llynfi Valley Historical Society exists to promote knowledge of the history of the Llynfi Valley. We do this through regular talks and by publishing books about the valley, its people and its past.

From the ancient parish of Llangynwyd to the ironworks and collieries that built Maesteg, Caerau, Nantyffyllon and the surrounding villages, the valley has a rich and often surprising history. Our members work to collect, record and pass on that heritage so it isn't lost to the next generation.

What we do

  • Host talks on local history, industry and community life
  • Research and publish books about the Llynfi Valley
  • Keep an archive of photographs, documents and memories
  • Share stories and pictures with our online community

Get involved

New members and visitors are always welcome. Whether you grew up in the valley, have family roots here, or simply love local history, we'd be glad to hear from you. [Add meeting day, time and venue here.]

Have old photographs, documents or memories of the valley? Please get in touch. Every contribution helps build the picture.
